We are the Michel family! Silver Dollar City, or “Dollar City” as our girls call it, has long been our second home. We traveled from Texas so often that the season pass just made sense at least 10 years ago, even with the 8-hour drive!
Eventually, our visits from Texas for all the festivals and events became so frequent, that we felt like we were actually at home when we were on vacation. Remote work allowed us to make a huge change and move to the Ozarks in 2023, where we really felt we belonged. We are honored to feel like we're part of the Silver Dollar City family. Our relationships with many Citizens have deepened and spilled outside The City and their work hours.
The rides, food and shows are wonderful and do not get old, even though we come a lot (and I mean a lot). The real draw, though, is the people! It is a wonderful place for our girls to grow up, full of faith, tradition and fun! Some of our favorite traditions are bringing treats to share with Citizens, watching a Homestead Pickers show, riding Fire in the Hole, getting a family selfie on the train, the dime-in-pins (Uncle Gene), keeping a “Dollar City” box with special souvenirs and tracking our annual visit total.
Every time we go, we feel like we are going to a party full of family and friends. Our last visit of the 2024 season was our favorite kind of day, running into friends and stopping to chat at every turn. I have one tip for season pass holders and it will work each and every time you visit! Get to know the Citizens of Silver Dollar City. Do you have a favorite ride? Know that crew by name and introduce yourself. Do you get kettle corn every time? Say hello and ask them how their day is. Is there a store you never miss? Tell the staff there and take a selfie with them. Thank the area hosts when you see them roll their trash barrels by and make small talk while you’re in line for a show. Making time in your visits to know the people in The City will deepen your experience each and every time. If you see us running around, please stop and say “hi.” We’d love to meet you, and maybe we’ll have treats to share!
